Age calculator

Select your birth date. Future dates cannot be used.

About the Age Calculator

The ToolNoveHub Age Calculator calculates your calendar age from a date of birth to today's date. It displays the result as complete years, remaining months, and remaining days.

Instead of simply dividing the number of elapsed days by 365, the calculator works with calendar years, months, and days. This makes the result easier to understand for birthdays and everyday age calculations.

The calculator also shows the total number of elapsed calendar days and the date of your next birthday.

How to use the Age Calculator

  1. 1. Select your date of birth using the date picker.
  2. 2. Select Calculate Age.
  3. 3. Review your age in years, months, and days.
  4. 4. Review the total elapsed days and next birthday information.
  5. 5. Select Reset to perform another calculation.

How is age calculated?

The calculator compares the selected date of birth with today's local calendar date. It determines the difference in complete years, months, and days.

If the current day is earlier than the birth day, the calculation borrows days from the previous calendar month. If the current month is earlier than the birth month, one year is borrowed and the month difference is adjusted.

This produces a calendar-based result such as 25 years, 4 months, and 12 days rather than treating every year as exactly 365 days.

Birthdays and leap years

Leap years contain February 29, while ordinary years do not. The calculator validates the original date of birth and uses calendar-day calculations for elapsed days.

If the date of birth is February 29, the calculator uses February 28 as the birthday date in a non-leap year so that the next birthday remains a valid calendar date.

Different jurisdictions may use different rules for specific legal or administrative purposes involving February 29 birthdays.

For official age, eligibility, legal, or administrative decisions, always follow the rules and documentation of the relevant authority.

Age calculation examples

Birthday has passed

When your birthday has already occurred this year, the calculator counts the completed year and the remaining months and days.

Birthday is coming

When your birthday has not occurred yet this year, the completed-year count is adjusted before the remaining months and days are calculated.

Leap-day birthday

A February 29 birth date is validated as a real calendar date, with February 28 used for the birthday in non-leap years.

Important notes

  • • The calculator uses your local calendar date when determining today's date.
  • • Future dates are not accepted as dates of birth.
  • • Invalid calendar dates are rejected.
  • • Total days use calendar-day differences rather than assuming every day has exactly the same elapsed duration.
  • • Leap-day birthdays are handled using a documented February 28 rule in non-leap years.
  • • For official eligibility or legal requirements, use the relevant official documentation or authority.

Browser-based calculation

The age calculation is performed directly in your web browser. No account is required, and the date entered into this calculator does not need to be uploaded to a server for the calculation itself.

What does an age calculator do?

An age calculator determines how much time has passed between a date of birth and a selected current date. Instead of simply dividing the number of days by 365, it uses calendar dates to calculate complete years, months, and remaining days.

ToolNoveHub's Age Calculator can also show the total elapsed calendar days and the date of the next birthday. This makes it useful when you need more detail than a simple "how old am I?" result.

What the age calculator shows

Age in years

Shows the number of complete years that have passed since the date of birth.

Remaining months and days

Shows the additional complete months and days after the complete years are counted.

Total elapsed days

Shows the actual number of calendar days between the birth date and today's date.

Next birthday

Shows the upcoming birthday date and the number of calendar days remaining.

Age calculation example

Suppose someone was born on January 15, 2000. The calculator compares that date with the current calendar date and determines how many complete years have passed, followed by the remaining months and days.

Example result

If the current date were January 15, 2025, the result would be exactly 25 years.

If the current date were May 27, 2025, the result would include 25 complete years followed by the additional months and days.

Leap years and February 29

Calendar calculations need to account for leap years because a leap year contains 366 days instead of 365. This difference affects the total number of elapsed calendar days between two dates.

February 29 is a valid calendar date in a leap year. The calculator accepts February 29 as a date of birth and applies its calendar rules when determining birthdays and elapsed time in later years.

Why age is not simply total days divided by 365

Dividing total elapsed days by 365 can provide a rough estimate, but it does not account for leap years or the different lengths of calendar months.

For example, a period that crosses February in a leap year contains a different number of days than the same period in a non-leap year. Calendar-based calculations are therefore more appropriate when the result needs to be expressed in years, months, and days.

How to use the age calculator

  1. 1. Enter or select your date of birth.
  2. 2. Make sure the selected date is a valid calendar date.
  3. 3. Select Calculate Age.
  4. 4. Review your age in years, months, and days.
  5. 5. Review the total elapsed days and next birthday information.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my age?

Select your date of birth and choose Calculate Age. The calculator compares your birth date with today's local calendar date and displays your age in years, months, and days.

What does the age result mean?

The result shows complete years followed by the remaining months and days. For example, 25 years, 4 months, and 12 days means 25 complete years have passed, followed by another 4 months and 12 days.

Does the calculator account for leap years?

Yes. The calculator validates calendar dates and accounts for leap years when calculating elapsed calendar days.

What happens if I was born on February 29?

February 29 is accepted as a valid date of birth. Birthday handling in a non-leap year follows the calculator's calendar-date rules.

Can I enter a future date?

No. Future dates are rejected because a future date cannot be used as a completed date of birth for the age calculation.

Does the calculator show total days?

Yes. The result includes the total number of elapsed calendar days between the date of birth and today's date.

Does the calculator show my next birthday?

Yes. The result includes the date of the next birthday and the number of calendar days remaining until it.

Why is total age in days different from dividing by 365?

A calendar year can contain 365 or 366 days, and calendar months have different lengths. The calculator therefore uses actual calendar dates rather than assuming every year contains exactly 365 days.

Can I use the calculator on a phone?

Yes. The calculator is designed to work in modern desktop, tablet, and mobile web browsers.

Is this age calculator free?

Yes. The ToolNoveHub Age Calculator is free to use and does not require an account.

Is my date of birth uploaded to a server?

The age calculation itself is performed directly in your browser. The entered date does not need to be uploaded to a server for the calculation.
